Ophélie De Soto Cobet is a clinical psychologist specializing in workplace wellbeing, resilience and mind-body approaches. She currently supports the 3,500 employees of the Luxembourg Red Cross, where her work on wellbeing has been recognized with a national award. She is also involved in the Resilience Programme developed by Karuna-Shechen, integrating mindfulness and compassionate practices into mental health promotion. At WAT, she brings expertise in psychological wellbeing, resilience and the practical application of evidence-based approaches to help people reconnect with themselves and others.

When I think about walking, I don’t think about exercise—I think about my father. Some of our most meaningful conversations happened while hiking together in the mountains, far from the distractions of everyday life. Walking side by side made it easier to speak honestly, to listen deeply and to create memories that have stayed with me ever since. Those experiences inspired my belief that walking can transform the way we connect with others. WAT was born from that simple idea: creating the conditions for conversations that help people find clarity, connection and hope.
Since childhood, some of my happiest moments have been spent walking through forests in search of mushrooms or along rivers while trout fishing, often alone or with close friends. Those walks have always brought me clarity, calm and perspective. Over the years, I discovered other forms of walking, from mindful walks across the Larzac plateau to cross-country skiing through winter landscapes. Today, I draw the same energy and balance into my work at Engage.World, where I help mobilize people to protect biodiversity and address environmental change. WAT reflects my conviction that walking can reconnect us—not only with nature, but also with ourselves and each other.
Charlotte Badoc holds a Master’s degree in Cognitive Science from Université Côte d’Azur and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Université Paris X – Nanterre. As President of the French Riviera’s Cognitive Science Association, she has been actively involved in promoting interdisciplinary dialogue between psychology, neuroscience and cognitive science. Passionate about making scientific knowledge accessible, she brings a new generation’s perspective on evidence-based mental wellbeing. At WAT, she contributes to committee’s support and scientific content review, and helps bridge academic research with practical, community-based interventions.
Eric Griez, MA, MD, PhD, is Emeritus Professor of Experimental Psychiatry at Maastricht University and Adjunct Professor of Psychiatry at SUNY Upstate Medical University (New York). He has also been Visiting Professor at the University of Nantes and founded the Academic Anxiety Center at Maastricht University Hospital, where he pioneered innovative approaches to the treatment of anxiety and depression. Author of more than 200 scientific publications, he is internationally recognized for his work in affective neuroscience and anxiety disorders. He also authored Guérir par la marche (2019) and its updated edition La marche-thérapie – Gérer le stress, réduire l’anxiété et prévenir la dépression par l’exercice (2022), which explore the therapeutic benefits of walking based on the latest neuroscience research. At WAT, he contributes his expertise at the intersection of psychiatry, neuroscience and walking as a tool for mental wellbeing.
