Finding Clarity on the Trail – By Evangelos – Agios Nikolaos, Greece 🇬🇷

Living in Greece, nature has always been part of my everyday life. Whether by the sea, in the mountains, or along a quiet trail, being outdoors is where I feel most connected to myself. For many years, running has been my favorite way to clear my mind and release stress. But walking has taught me something different—and equally valuable.

When I walk, I slow down.

There is no pressure to reach a certain pace or distance. Instead, I have space to notice what is happening around me and within me. The rhythm of my steps helps me pay attention to my thoughts and emotions rather than rush past them.

Some of my most meaningful walks have been shared with a friend. As we move through nature together, conversations flow more easily. Worries feel lighter. Ideas become clearer. Sometimes we talk for hours; other times we simply enjoy the silence and the landscape around us.

As a mental health professional, I have seen how powerful movement and connection with nature can be for emotional well-being. But I have also experienced it personally. Again and again, I find that a simple walk can help me regain perspective when life feels overwhelming.

For me, it is often the simplest moments (a quiet path, the sound of the sea, a familiar trail beneath my feet) that bring the greatest sense of clarity and balance. By the time I return home, I usually feel calmer, more grounded, and ready for whatever the rest of the day may bring.
